4 common eye care mistakes you might be making

From morning to night, our eyes are working their hardest to help you navigate the world around you. Our eyes constantly take care of us, so it's important we take care of them too. In the same way you regularly go to a GP and take care of the rest of your body, you eyes do require regular and specialised care to stay in top condition.

In today's blog, we're exploring 3 common eye care mistakes you might be making.

1. Skipping your eye exams

Whether your vision has been perfect since your last optometry visit or its changed at all, the best thing you can do for your eyes is go to get an eye exam every year, at least. Annual eye exams are an important aspect of routine health checks, are generally quick and efficient, and will be able to catch any underlying issues before they get worse.

2. Not wearing sun protection

Believe it or not, the sun is one of the most damaging natural forces against your eyes. That's why it's so important to wear protective sunglasses against the sun's harsh rays - especially in South East Queensland! Ensure the lenses in the sunglasses you wear are UV treated and you'll be doing your eyes a world of favours! 3. Ignoring symptoms or changes in your vision The thing with eye problem is that when caught early, many are easily treated. The issue lies in symptoms that go unnoticed due to lack of eye exams or ignored symptoms. If you notice any change in your vision or experience symptoms, book an eye exam as soon as possible. 4. Sleeping with eye make-up on

A common culprit for eye irritation is make-up that's been improperly applied, removed or slept in. It can be particular problematic when make-up interacts with your eye when you have contact lenses in - the irritation can be made worse and affect the efficacy of the lenses. We have a whole blog on this topic here. _____
