Tips for Owning New Glasses

So, you just got your new glasses – yippee! Here's to a healthy and comfortable optical future for you and your eyes. Here are our top tips for taking care of your new glasses.

1. Try not to alternate between your old and new glasses

If your new glasses are replacing an older pair, try to avoid switching between the two. It can take a little time to adjust to your new frames and lenses, but if your optometrist has prescribed the changes it's for a good reason! Try and settle into your new glasses by wearing them only (and any other frames that has your most up-to-date lenses within them). Your eyes will thank you for it!

2. Wear them doing the things you enjoy

Like we mentioned above, it can take some time to settle into new frames. In order to get your eyes feeling comfortable, try doing simple, enjoyable tasks with your new glasses on. This can include reading, watching television or doing a hobby you love. This will help you to feel at ease and relaxed while you get used to your new glasses.

3. Give it time

For some people, they won't notice a change when wearing new glasses at all. For others, it may take a little more time. So give yourself the time to get used to them! If it feels a bit disorientating for the first few initial days, that's totally okay. Be kind to yourself!

If after a week your new glasses still don't feel quite right, get in touch with your optometrist and eyewear provider and let them know. They'll be able to make any adjustments so that you feel comfortable.
