Eye Health Tips

Updated: Feb 11, 2022

Your eyes make up an extremely important part of your health. Vision is sense we rely on to understand the world around us, and it’s important to take consistent measures to keep your eyes healthy. There are several things you can do to ensure that your vision is well protected from childhood, right through to adulthood. Most of these tips and tricks are simple and seamless lifestyle modifications and things to be mindful of.

- Eat a healthy balanced diet

You are what you eat, and the same goes for your eyes! We’ve shared plenty of healthy eating tips and recipes on our blog when it comes to your eyes.

- Wear sunglasses

The sun is a harsh predator for our eyes (especially here in Australia!). Protect your eyes from the sun’s UV rays by wearing block-out sunglasses that block 99-100% of both UV-A and UV-B radiation.

- Wear protective eyewear

If you work or spend time where your eyes are vulnerable to the environment that you are in, ensure that you wear appropriate protective gear as needed.

- Know your family medical history

There are some eye diseases that are genetic. It’s a good idea to be in the know about your family medical history, eye-related health included.

- Give your eyes a rest

Just like the rest of your body, your eyes get tired too! They need a regular rest from all the hard work they do during the day. Try to take adequate breaks if you use a screen for work, or even if you find yourself behind a phone or television throughout the day. Follow this rule: every 20 minutes, look about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds!

- Use blue light glasses

We’re living in the digital age, and our eyes are still learning to adapt to our screen-filled world! Wearing blue light glasses is a great way to protect your eyes from the harsh screen from lights.

- Get regular eye tests

Many eye problems go unnoticed because they don’t show symptoms. Worse still, symptoms can appear when it’s too late to repair. That’s why we recommend regular eye checks, beginning from an early age.
