A list of things all Contact Lens Wearers should know

Contact lenses are a great and discreet alternative to glasses, but truth be told, they do require some more care. Once you get the hang of them, contact lenses can be an awesome alternative. Here are some things all contact wearers should know:

Wash your hands before handling your contacts

Before touching your lenses, ensure that your hands are thoroughly washed and clean. If you wear make up, make sure it is removed before putting your contacts in or taking them out.

Clean your Lenses every day

Maintaining the hygiene of your contact lenses mean that you will avoid the microbial build up on their surface. This will reduce the risk of infection or any complications for your eye. Use the solutions recommended by your optometrist, preferably a hydrogen peroxide cleaner, which is a thorough disinfectant.

Have a pair of back up Glasses

Contact lenses are great, but what's even better is the guarantee of supported vision 24/7! That's why we suggest always having a pair of glasses handy in case something goes wrong with your contact lenses (eg. if you lose one, etc.).

Don't overwear soft lenses

This furthers the point of sanitation – soft lenses have a recommended use date which you should always follow. After the use date, ensure that you stop using the contacts.

Have regular appointments with your optometrist

That's right, folks – the best way to ensure you're getting the most out of your vision, glasses and contacts is to have regular appointments with your optometrist! Don't sit on an issue and hope it 'goes away'. Also, our eyes are constantly changing based on our age, lifestyle and environment, which means our eye care might need changing too.
