When was the last time you had an eye check? Maybe you’re noticing some irritation, or perhaps your old prescription glasses don’t feel as right as the used to. Perhaps you have no symptoms at all! But what we can say is that no matter what boat you’re in, having consistent eye exams is important for your wellbeing. Below you’ll find some top signs so you know when you need an eye test!
1. Well, when was your last eye check?!
Most importantly, it’s probably time to have an eye check if it’s been between 12-16 months since your last one. We recommend more frequently if you have pre-existing eye conditions or are over 50.
2. Headaches when reading or looking at your screen
This is another classic sign that your eyes might need a little more protection – perhaps in the form of glasses. This is also a symptom to look out for in younger kids as it can be a sign for any vision problems.
Trouble seeing at long or short distances
A difference in long- or short-sighted distance isn’t uncommon as a side effect of aging. It can creep up quite quickly for some, so the best option is to get fitted for a suitable frame so that you can keep doing the activities you love without straining your eyes.
4. Difficulty with: driving, night vision, glare, colour discrimination
All of these symptoms can be indicators of something more serious, so if you have any vision issues with the above, it’s important you get your eyes tested as soon as possible.
5. Any changes – big or small – with your vision!
If you notice any difference in your vision’s ability, get an eye check. Many serious eye-related diseases can be treated if they’re caught early. Even minor issues can cause a serious disruption in day-to-day life, so save yourself the hassle and book in an appointment.
*Please note that this list of symptoms is not exhaustive! If you have any concern for your vision or have noticed any changes, it’s imperative that you get your eyes tested for the wellbeing of yourself and others.
