Believe it or not, sunglasses aren't just a fashion statement! They're an essential part of eye care and they should be a year-round staple that you use often. Of course, not all sunglasses are created equal, and the ones we're referring to contain lenses that are UV protectant. Here are 4 reasons why you should wear sunglasses:
1. They protect your eyes from Ultraviolet Rays
Ultraviolet (UV) rays is a form of radiation emitted by the sun. While it does provide the benefit of Vitamin D, in excess large amounts, UV rays are extremely harmful, especially to human skin and eyes. Exposures to UV light can lead to severe vision complications. Sunglasses that contain UV lenses act as a filter to block the harmful UV rays from entering your eyes and putting you at risk of UV exposure complications and diseases.
2. They minimise dust and other irritants getting in your eye
Sunglasses act as a fantastic shield for your eyes, minimising the risk of dust, small particles and pollution in the air from entering your eye. They are a particularly good option for people who suffer from hay fever, and can aid as a barrier against increased pollen in the air in the spring months. Although, sunglasses should be worn all year round (and not just in spring!).
3. Reduce Straining-related headaches and migraines
Sometimes we don't realise how my we squint and strain in the glare - especially on days that aren't even particularly sunny. For some people, sun-exposed eye strain can lead to headaches and migraines. Sunglasses are a fantastic option to cease straining. A polarised and tinted lens will help enormously and most likely better your view and vision instead of straining through the day.
4. They look great!
Who are we kidding - sunglasses look awesome! There are so many styles, colours and frames to choose from... why wouldn't you want to wear a pair!?
